Yes, We Have By-Laws!
I hope everyone is having a good summer. Now that we have closed out our UXPA International 2019 conference (thank you again to all who made it possible!) we are starting to ramp up for UXPA International’s 2020 conference. With that comes a review of our materials, our schedules, and in general, taking inventory of our process. This year, part of that is also a review of the UXPA International By-Laws. If you are unfamiliar with what they are, they are located here.
As we started to review all the sections, we realized a lot of what had been written was a bit out of date, and some parts were not working for us at all. We have started the process of amending them and wanted to make sure you, as a member of UXPA are aware.
What are we changing?
One of the biggest items we are looking to change is our UXPA Board of Directors election cycle. Currently board members are elected in the fall and serve for a calendar year. While this sounds good on paper, we realized it would make more sense to align the lifecycle to our conference planning, so that Board Members were not leaving/joining mid conference planning, and they could be there from the very start.
We also want to look at a few membership-related items. We would like to remove “non-voting” memberships, since we don’t offer them. In addition, we would like to remove the requirement that members must complete an application to join.
We mention in our By-Laws that we don’t allow refunds of dues, but we have for special circumstances so we would like to delete this.
If you have any questions about our By-Laws or want to provide feedback, please email us at email@example.com.
In the meantime, stay tuned for updates about UXPA2020! We are opening up the call for submissions soon.
Have a great rest of your summer!
President, UXPA International
